Anyone can include a legacy
to Community Forests North West in their will and it doesn’t
have to be for a lot of money. You may choose to leave us a specific
gift of money or the
residue of your estate once family and friends have been looked
after. You can also bequest
land or property.
Whether you give £500 to preserve a stand of trees, £2,000
to help maintain an acre of woodland,
or £20,000 towards conservation of the North West environment,
your gift counts.
Making a will gives you piece of mind to know that your possessions
will go exactly where
you want them to when you die. In the UK, more than 60% of charitable
income comes from
legacies – a gift left to charity in your will. This is vital
money, but only 13% of all wills contain
a charitable donation.
You can support Community Forests North West through your will.
There are different ways
you can leave a gift in your Will; the most common are described
below:
- Pecuniary Legacy (specific cash bequest).
A gift of a fixed sum of money in your Will is called a pecuniary
bequest. The value of pecuniary legacies will decrease over time,
as the cost of living increases.
- Residuary Legacy
A gift of the remainder of the estate after all other bequests
have been made and debts cleared.
- Specific bequest
A particular named item left as a gift in your Will is known as
a specific bequest - for example,
land or property.
- Contingent bequest
A gift in your Will that depends upon the occurrence of an event
which may or may not happen. An example is a bequest to a charity
which applies only if other beneficiaries named in the Will die
before the testator (person who made the Will).
